Neely Came to Visit

Tried out the Jumper-she sat happily more than jumped. Though she did like it when Mommy did the jumping for her
Not loving the Jumper

Maddie's BFF Neely came to visit this weekend. Mary Grace came up while her husband played in a golf tournament. Neely and Madeline napped twice giving MG and I enough time to have a real conversation and even start watching a movie. It was great! As you can see from the pictures, Madeline hasn't wasted any time trying to catch up to Neely in size! The second picture was taken when Madeline was 2 weeks old. Hard to believe she was ever that small. We'll try to post a video again soon.

Tummy Time

Madeline is holding herself up so well!
All my friends have pictures of feet so I decided to jump on the bandwagon. Plus I wanted to show off my skills with editing photos on Photoshop Elements (This used to be a picture of her face-I totally recommend it)
We like to "pop" the collar since we are starting Maddie early on how to be a fashion diva (just like her mother of course!)
She was desperately trying to get the whole thing in her mouth. She does this a lot with her fist too-she almost has her fist. We are gearing her up for the circus-next will be marshmallows (also a useful skill for all the Chubby Bunny contests we are planning to enter her in) and then we'll work our way up to swallowing knives.
The results of too much "tummy time." She pooped out.

I've been a bad mom. Madeline didn't really like hanging out on her stomach so I didn't force the issue and put her on it very much. So I've been trying to make up for it lately and it seems to be paying off. She rolled over once, but still hasn't got it completely down yet.

The most consistent thing we do since the summer started is go walking a couple of times a week at a local lake. It has lots of ducks, geese, swans, turtles, and on occasion I see snakes in there too! My favorite-blah. The point of my story is that I am feeling a little sad because one duck (who is so ugly because it looks like a turkey which is a story for another time) had 15 chicks about 2 weeks ago. Every time I go she is missing more chicks! Today she was down to just 5! Now, if you know me at all, you know that I am not what you would call an "animal lover" (I love other people's pets-I just don't want any of my own), but as a new mom my heart just breaks for this ugly turkey duck as she keeps loosing more babies. The rational, non-animal loving side of me says, Thank God she is an animal and cannot think or feel! Now I'm sure you are asking yourself "why did I just waste 15 seconds of my life to read that?" but just know its late, my husband and child are in bed, and I am going through this crazy cycle of not being able to fall asleep even though I am exhausted. Po Po pitiful me and Ugly Turkey Duck!

Happy Mother's Day to Me

We had some professional pictures taken on Sunday
Madeline in her Baptismal Gown
We tried out the Exersaucer which she liked but still can't quite reach the toys
Had Daddy take our picture on mother's day (after the poop explosion)
Got to see our friends Robert and Liz this weekend and they brought Maddie "Barney" the White House puppy
Our friends Laura and James' son Thomas came for dinner. He was a perfect gentleman. He didn't try to make any moves on Maddie (unlike some other boys we know)!

Well, it finally happened. I was feeding Maddie right before we were to leave to go to dinner to celebrate mother's day and she exploded all over me! She was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and it all came out on me and the sofa, nothing even hit her clothes! Happy mother's day to me!

We went to a wedding for a fraternity brother of Lance's this weekend about 2 hours away in Lake Martin and left Madeline at home. This was the longest I have been away from her (about 11 hours). Maddie went to T-town with her Gigi for a birthday party then they came back up here. We both did surprisingly well. Though pumping in a moving car is quite interesting.

We went to the doctor yesterday for our 4 month check up. Madeline weighs 15 lbs. 10 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches tall. This puts her in the 90% for both height and weight (at least she is proportional!). Shots went better this time, she didn't seem fussy afterwards, she just slept a bunch.

Madeline is a pretty mellow baby, but she has her moments. She has gotten away from crying and moved on to screaming at us when she wants something. Her hair is coming in a little too. Just on top, so we should have a nice Mohawk going pretty soon.

Slow Week

Maddie had just tipped over on the couch and was giggling
Our friends Lucas and Rebecca
She will snuggle up with her "baby" at nap time

I went to run and Lance dressed
Maddie. When I came home I saw that her dress was on backwards. I guess dads aren't used to girl clothes that button up the back!

We had a slow week (which was great!). Had a couple of visitors as you can see from the pictures, but other than that we hung out around home. We go to the doctor for Madeline's 4 month checkup next week. I'm interested to see how much she weighs now. Not much else to report!

The Yankee Grandparents Come to Visit

My mom and dad came to see us this weekend. Mom and I did a little shopping while Lance and Dad played some golf. We had a pretty low key weekend due to the fact that dad had just done a bunch of home renovations at their house in Florida and was still very tired. Madeline giggled up a storm when dad bounced her on his knees.

Lance found out that he passed the last part of his exam so he is officially a credentialed ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) and no longer an Actuarial Student. He will have 2 more tests to pass to be a complete Actuary(FSA=Fellow).

I am working on getting a nap schedule down this month and getting Maddie to nap in her crib. She's fine at night but in the afternoons will only stay asleep for about an hour at a time. I'm putting another link to snapfish up entitled "Month 3" if anyone wants to view more photos.
