You cant see them, but M has a set of foam letters she is sitting on-she only refers to them as "Super letters" (for those of you w/o kids, its a reference to a show called Super Why on PBS.) M will say "watch Super Why on TBS." The other day we were driving around town and there were some huge numbers on a building we were stopped in front of. M goes "Mommy, super letters!" Still confused about the difference between numbers and letters, but I thought it was pretty smart that she made the connection between the show and real life.
Who doesn't love walking around in rain boots on a sunny day?
Madeline is attached to these two items. The fish is "Dory Nemo" and the other is "Dolly." Dory Nemo was a prize M got a Chucky Cheese, and Dolly used to be a magnet on our refrigerator. Both have gone missing for a couple of days (separately), while Dolly has lost many parts and has had to be "fixed" with super glue several times now. Isn't it amazing how children attach themselves to the most random, inconsequential, inexpensive things? Dolly was actually a gift from a friend living in China to remind us to pray for China-Carolyn, I may need you to bring me another one of these before you move! It also amazes me that Madeline will usually remember where each of these are too. She has to sleep with both as well as her lovie and two blankies. Its a packed crib, that's why we need a big girl bed soon.
Not much to say or many pictures taken recently. We've all been recovering from a two week cold. I keep forgetting to blog that one of Madeline's favorite snacks is pickles. The other day Lance overheard Madeline putting one of her toys in time out and told it to "Obey Madeline." We had a couple of birthday parties the other weekend, and they were very confusing for Madeline. She now keeps asking me when her birthday is, and says "I want my birthday again."
We had M's first dentist appointment yesterday. It went really well. She was okay even to sit in the chair on her own for a little bit. When the hygienist started to clean her teeth she got upset because of course it hurt a little. She took a couple of breaks to look at the fish tank, and then sat back in my lap. She whined and cried a little, but for the most part kept her mouth open. They got most of her teeth cleaned which I was really pleased about. She let the lady floss and polish after the cleaning as well with no complaints. The only thing she didn't seem to get was that she did not need to stick her tongue out when she opened her mouth. The women was constantly trying to get her to pull it back in!

What Do Y'all Think?
Just too cute not to share. Her favorite fruit is oranges.
So I could not get this girl to smile for a picture comparison, but what do you all think? The last picture is of me-I was either almost 2 or almost 3. Poor girl isn't going to be a towhead like her mom. Darn Lance and his dark genes. I do understand that it could be due to the fact that my hair is so much darker now-I feel like a brunette. My hairdresser called me a "dirty blond" and it felt like she was calling me a hussy.
We went in earlier this week for Madeline's 2 year check up. She weighed in at 30 lbs (90th %) and is 35 inches tall (75th%). She had a major weight gain because she was in only the 50th% for weight at her 18 month. I had still been giving her whole milk so we dropped to 2% (reminds me of a quote from Napoleon Dynamite-giggle). I must also say that it was nice to not have to strip her and she can stand on the scale now instead of the baby scale. M got a doctor set for her birthday and she likes to listen to our hearts and take our blood pressure. She says, "listen heart Mommy," "Take blood pessure." Though she calls the blood pressure display a "clock." We had been practicing so she could talk to "Doccer Tellos" (Dr. Petelos), but the second he walked in, she clammed up. She did let him look at everything as we discussed he would, but I'm very doubtful now that she will let the dentist in her mouth later this month. I'm still talking it up. I'll tell you what, she has had more meltdowns in a week than she has had in 3 months. How to make her understand the importance of obedience without breaking her spirit? If someone has the answer, please share.
